This page covers the things people ask about most. If your question isn't here, the email address is at the bottom and it reaches us directly.
Restoring a subscription after reinstalling or changing phone
Open the app and go to Profile → Restore purchases. Your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores without needing a receipt.
Cancelling a subscription
Cancellation is handled by Apple, not by us. Profile → Manage subscription opens the right screen in iOS Settings.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Refunds
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue them.
Deleting your account
Profile → Delete account. This removes your account and the data stored with it — your profile, meal plan, pantry, shopping list, saved prices and weight history. It cannot be undone.
Deleting your account is separate from cancelling a subscription. If you have one, cancel it first — otherwise it will keep renewing after the account is gone.
Reporting a bug or suggesting a feature
Profile → Report a bug or idea. It reaches us directly and includes your app version and device model, so we can reproduce the problem. You can also email us.
How meals get chosen
During onboarding you tap the meals that look good, and those are saved as favourites on your account — you can heart more from any meal at any time. Favourites, your favourite cuisines and your dislikes nudge which meals rank first when the app fills your week; your weekly budget shapes the whole plan.
Your allergens and diets are stricter: a meal that breaks one is never suggested.
MealMaxx doesn't ask for your height, weight, age, sex or activity level, and doesn't set calorie or macro targets — nothing is tracked against what you eat. The nutrition shown on each meal is an estimate computed from its ingredients — useful for comparing options, not medical advice. See the terms for the disclaimer.
Prices look wrong
Prices in MealMaxx are estimates, not live prices pulled from a specific store. They start from a catalogue value adjusted for the kind of store you selected, so they will not match your receipt exactly.
They get closer over time. When you scan a receipt, the prices you confirm are saved and used for that store from then on.
If something looks badly off rather than slightly off, tell us — that's a useful bug report, and the fastest route is Profile → Report a bug or idea.
Scanning a receipt or your shelves isn't working
Scanning needs camera access. Check iOS Settings → MealMaxx → Camera.
It reads printed labels and receipts, so it struggles with handwriting, heavy creasing and poor light. If a scan reads an amount wrong, you can correct it before saving.
Meal reminders aren't arriving
Two settings have to be on. Check Profile → Meal reminders in the app, then iOS Settings → MealMaxx → Notifications.
Your plan isn't syncing between devices
Sign in with the same Apple or Google account on both devices. Your plan syncs to that account, so signing in a different way creates a separate account — even when both use the same email address.
